What you’ll be doing

Working as part of an expanding sales team, this development role is the starting point on your sales journey with Pricecheck. Pricecheck strongly believe in promoting from within, and here is your first step towards a rewarding and fruitful career as an International Account Manager.

Working alongside our current team, you will get to work across the breadth of our customer base, including wholesale, retail, key accounts and international partners. Rather than a static product list and one prescribed way of selling, you are encouraged to use your individual approach and commercial awareness to adapt to the situation, meaning no two days are ever the same.

Learning key selling skills from those around you, you will become a strong negotiator and adept at matching the right product to the right customer at a price point that works for all involved – a fine balance which bodes well for a capable and promising field sales representative.

How you’ll do it

Following a whistle stop tour of the business in your early days with Pricecheck, you will then work through a rotation of in depth training across different business functions to gain an appreciation of how the sales function fully operates.

Starting behind the scenes and getting to grips with the product itself, you will spend time with the distribution and quality control teams who oversee the purchases coming in to our warehouse. You will then follow this by getting to know our bespoke systems in order to create, update and maintain product records to provide an accurate representation of the stock we hold. Liaising with the Buyers, you will manage the administration behind our purchases - from accurate purchase order entry, stock photography, product analysis and descriptions.

We recognise that a Pricecheck Sales Representative is most effective when they fully understand the business as a whole – therefore, it is imperative to understand how we buy the product to begin with. As part of the Buying team, you will assist in market research and analysing offers, getting that buzz when you have helped to secure an exciting and profitable line.

Taking everything you have learnt so far, you will then join our wider Sales team in getting to understand our approach to selling and customer relationships. You will be office based in your early days and will support our existing teams in order to understand our processes inside out – this will then help deliver a quality service and build strong relationships when you’re out on the road yourself. Once you’ve mastered what’s going on behind the scenes, you will begin to attend trade events, undertake store visits and apply your findings, start to sell over the phone and shadow other International Account Managers to see how different approaches can yield exciting results.

By the end of the first year, we would anticipate you being ready and raring to take on your own territory, being out on the road visiting your own customers and building your account list.

In order to succeed, you will show versatility and awareness of how to read a situation – you will be a true ‘plate spinner’ and thrive in a busy environment where your time management skills and multi-tasking ability will help you succeed. You will embrace a challenge and not be afraid of hard work, relishing the opportunity to learn from those around whilst applying your own personal touch.

What we’re looking for

With so much going on, you need to be sharp, smart with an eagerness to learn – we ask for a minimum of a 2:1 degree in any discipline with strong A levels (or the associated equivalent). However, we look for more than just academic achievements of our team. Show us that you have entrepreneurial spirit, an interest in trading and a passion for sales - we would love to hear more from you.

You will be a confident communicator and adaptable, thriving under pressure and motivated by results. You will be goal orientated and driven to achieve – we can give you the tools, guidance and support to succeed, but you need the right attitude and determination to do it.

More than just an engaging presence, you will also need to have strong numerical skills (achieving at least a grade B in GCSE Maths) and to be able to apply these skills to ever changing situations. You must be able to operate strategically and think analytically – each deal you make will be underpinned by a combination of commercial understanding and customer requirement.

Experience within a commercial sales environment would be beneficial and as we trade internationally, we’re keen to hear from people who have language skills or experience of living and working overseas but these are not essential.

What you need to know

Location :

Sheffield, South Yorkshire – candidates must live within a commutable distance. As this development role does include frequent, national and international travel, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

Vacancy type :

We’re investing in your development and future career, so we don’t believe in putting an end date on our development schemes. Therefore, this position is a permanent, full time opportunity and the role at the end of the first year will be agreed depending upon your individual development, skills and interests.
